2010 Update
Sorry, I am no longer in the business of math tutoring at this time. But please feel free to click on the links in the left sidebar for helpful resources and fun facts about math.

Hi, my name is Rich. I enjoy helping students of all ages to understand math. From basic skills to advanced math concepts, I quickly narrow down problem areas and enable students to become more confident in their abilities. Are you a homeschool parent who needs help teaching your children math? I can save you a great deal of time and headaches!

As a tutor and home educator, I understand the importance of spending individualized time with each student. Sometimes all that is needed is a little extra help in finding one’s natural learning style which can be the key to success. Furthermore, any student who makes progress, no matter how slow, should be applauded because failure only comes from not trying. There is no substitute for hard work, and self-confidence is gained in having accomplished a difficult task. This is especially true when it comes to the subject of math.

I’m a Certified Quality Engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. However, a continuing passion for mathematics has led me to utilize my skills as a math tutor since my college days. I have also homeschooled my own children using Saxon Math from elementary arithmetic through calculus. My oldest son received a college scholarship based in part on his high math test scores.

With my broad educational background and variety of work experiences, I can assist students in relating their education to the real world. My intent is to integrate creativity into the learning process to increase enthusiasm for the subject. I present the material using concrete examples while finding innovative ways to make problem solving meaningful to the student’s particular interests.

In addition, I am able to explain complicated mathematical concepts in a relaxed manner. The end result is helping students to overcome their underlying fear of mathematics. My ultimate goal is to leave students with a quality set of skills that will empower them with confidence to solve all kinds of math problems on their own, thereby eliminating the need for future tutoring.

Don’t panic - I can assist with any kind of math, from arithmetic to calculus and physics.
